| John Minks is believed to have been born 1786 in Virginia. He married Nancy Wilson in 1809 in Tennessee. The family later settled in Rockcastle County, Kentucky where the majority of the John and Nancy Minks descendants lived, worked and died. The parents of John Minks are yet unknown but Mink family researchers believe that the family origins come from Germany. The known children of John and Nancy Wilson Minks are: Hiram, Darrell, Mary, Elizabeth, Felix, Celia, Rachel, John Wesley Albert Gallatin and William Amos.
